いび祭り・子ども歌舞伎 (Ibi Feastival & Children's Kabuki)

江戸時代享保年間に始まったとされる揖斐まつり。祭りで奉納した踊りから転じて子ども歌舞伎の上演が始まったのは明治時代中ごろです。
3日には祭りに先がけて、「子ども歌舞伎特別披露」がホールのステージで行われます。
続いて4日・5日には、5つの区が1輌ずつ所有する豪華絢爛なやま（県有形民俗文化財）が三輪神社に曳きそろえられ、地元小学生がやまを舞台に子ども歌舞伎を演じます。
また5日には、白装束の男たちが3基の大神輿をかつぎ、続いてたくさんの神輿も出て町中を練り歩き、祭りは最高潮を迎えます。

This festival is held by Miwa Shrine, which was founded before the Nara period. Influenced by the stability of life during the Edo period, in the early 1700s, it developed into the brilliant festival it is today. Kabuki is performed by children atop five gorgeous floats, while three large portable shrines and ten smaller portable shrines, carried by children, are paraded about. A festival with this combination of children's kabuki and a parade of portable shrines is rare in Japan, and serves as proof that the culture of the townfolk in the Edo period is being preserved for future generations.
